Port
Of Dover: Gateway To France & The Continent
Ferry
Companies, Schedules & Special Offers
There
are four major companies operating out of Dover.
Norfolkline
Norfolkline
has a fleet of modern ferries built in 2005 and 2006, specifically for
car and freight traffic on the Dover to Dunkerque / Dunkirk route. Crossing
time is approximately one hour and 45 minutes.
P&O
Ferries
P&O Ferries,
the largest of the cross-channel operators uses a fleet of 7 ferries
(two solely for freight) to provide up to 30 return crossings per day.
Discounts are often available and we'll post special offers here when
they're running.
SeaFrance
SeaFrance also
operates the Dover - Calais route, but with a certain Gallic flair.
6 ships provide approximately 25 crossings per year and there are many
special offers and deals available, making it a favourite for "booze
cruise" day trippers as well as those heading further afield. The
journey time from Dover to Calais is approximately 75 minutes and if
you are holidaying in France, why not start the French experience on
board?
SpeedFerries
SpeedFerries
- for those of you who just can't wait to get away from Dover to Boulogne
in its high speed Catamaran. Boulogne provides an excellent alternative
for those wishing to drive further south in France - the A16 autoroute
being easily accessible. Note: SpeedFerries now sails
from the Hoverport, having refurbished a large part of it extensively.
